When planning for your Watch Me Grow or Family Portrait Session, location is everything!
For children under 2 years-old, I find can be really helpful to do the session in your home, especially if you are wanting a lot of the personality and smile photographs. In your home is a good choice if the needed lighting is available for the type of feel your are hoping for in the photographs.
Consulting with your photographer on this point is a great idea, and of course your Los Angeles Photographer Katee Grace, yours truly, covers these details with you, her clients, during your consultation. Every family is different though, sometimes a location away from the home is more the feel of what you are going for.
In Your Home
The photographs below were taken in client’s homes where there was plenty of light available for the look and feel of each of these. In several you will see expressions from children that are very relaxed and almost overly (naturally) expressive. The casual nature of an at-home photo session (sessions last 1-3 hours) allows for interaction in your child’s safe and comfortable element with your Los Angeles Photographer Katee Grace, especially if this is a first meeting.
There are so many gorgeous outdoor locations for your session, some included below but many not. From the beaches of Santa Monica to the bluffs of Malibu, the Santa Barbara Mission or Montecito secluded beaches and groves, the streets of Beverly Hills, or even the Santa Barbara Biltmore, the San Juan Capistrano Mission or Newport Beaches, the possibilities are endless! Expressing what photos you love to your photographer, and if you have a location you love sharing that with your photographer and trusting their expert opinion on lighting and design, you are sure to have family photographs that are works of art.
